Despite its challenges, confronting intricate situations head-on often proves essential for achieving desired outcomes. Embrace the complexity as an opportunity for growth and innovation, recognizing its potential to yield significant rewards in the long run.
01 Challenge
New Vernon came to us with one of the most complex requests we've ever had, two websites on one shared platform! For content, they wanted to focus on articles/news feeds/blog posts; essentially a central hub for all things investing.
02 Solution
In order to pull this off, we needed to rethink our platform from the ground up. How could we create three websites? Our path to success began with adding a new page type, a "sub-page". This allowed us to break each website up by their parent (Investment vs Wealth). This did have a draw-back. Everything worked as expected when browsing the site normally, but what would happen if someone typed in the path directly? For example, if you went to domain.com/contact how could ensure that you were going to the correct page? In order to solve this problem, we introduced a "controller" splash page (the third website). If you hadn't been to the site in the last 7 days, the system would redirect you to the controller page, asking you to select which vehicle you were looking for. You could of course toggle between the two, but this intermediary step allowed us to keep everything simple for new users.
